Widney has been the leading supplier of gas heating appliances to the European leisure industry since 1983. Widney was acquired by the Carver Group in 1994 and the subsequent investment in the site near Bromsgrove in the West Midlands enabled a policy of continuous development of existing products along with the introduction of new products to meet the changing requirements of the leisure industry. The year 1998 saw the introduction of a range of focal point electric fires to compliment the existing gas fire ranges and since then the ranges have continued to develop to include the development of accompanying bespoke fire surrounds. We continued to draw from our experience in the leisure market and 2005 saw the introduction of a range of plinth heaters designed to be unobtrusive but capable of providing background heat across all living areas. Recognising a demand across Europe for a modern room sealed water heating appliance, Widney launched the Slimtronic water heater in 2010. It was developed with the leisure market firmly in mind and included technology to enable the product to provide hot water at very low water pressure. More recently our focus has been upon the development of increasingly energy efficient products across all ranges. Recognising, however, that our traditional products are fast approaching their limits of energy efficiency, we have begun to focus upon the management of the energy required by those products. This has led to the development of the EMAC energy management and control system. This latest product illustrates Widney`s commitment and determination to be recognised as an environmentally conscious company and our reputation will be further enhanced as we draw upon the expertise available to us from within the Carver Group to develop heat recovery systems dedicated to the leisure market.
